It is with great sadness I report that Carbing in Japan has discontinued the highly effective (if not inexpensive) Floor Sill Braces. Only one customer of mine actually ordered these and had me install them. His account of Carbing braces was universal: Hey Marcus, Firstly, thank you again for lunch on Saturday (at Heeltoe we take care of our customers )! Okay, the sill braces are AWESOME! They make the front end soooo much more planted and willing to stay planted throughout the entire arc, especially hard throttle application on exit right after the apex. The car is very stable in hard turning. I can feel the bars acting as anti-torsion bars on the chassis to prevent it from flexing. There is some understeer still from too much entry speed probably, but now the front end sticks and fights its way through the arc. Now a new sensation that I now feel are the shocks and springs doing all of the absorbing of bumps, impacts and other things which used to make the center portion of the chassis flex. The car has a slightly "nuggety" feel to it now rather than that overall flowing and forgiving feel when just going down the road straight. I can only imagine what a half bolt-in roll cage would do for chassis rigidity! Don't worry, I haven't gone completely insane over the chassis strengthening thing! Not yet anyways. It'll be interesting to get the J's front fender brace and the last Carbing brace installed to see how the aggregate of all the components react together. So far, so good in my opinion. If anything, all the chassis stuff should be done first before choosing a suspension kit. ... Anyways, have a Happy New Year and perhaps I'll drop on by this w/e to let you drive the car so you can form your own opinion. Oh yeah, I think my front rotors are warped - drats! Can you find out from Fast Brakes what a replacement set would cost? Not trying to cheap-out or anything, but it seems to me that the brakes should hold up to a little more abuse than what I do to it... Do you think then that Fast Brakes would cut me a small (or large =) ) discount then for replacement rotors since I've only had them for a month or so? Thanks! And now a photographic memorial to this FANTASTIC part. Be sure to check out the other carbing offerings. The rest are still available and account for a huge improvement in overall function. http://www.heeltoeauto.com/home.php?cat=1481 Marcus
